Well as the picture says, I took some time to visit the National Museum.. It was a wonderful experience. The museum houses some of the best both old and new air crafts. It also serves as a historical museum to aviation. It houses some of the artifacts of the Wright Brothers. Shown below is one the Cycles made at the Wrights' shop.
Dayton is the place where Wrights brother's built the innovation. So Ohio is called the BirthPlace of Aviation. The Musuem has three gallery. Early Years,Cold War and Modern Air. More details could be had at http://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/
The Early Years Gallery has the collections of flights which were the prototypes to the first flights and the first set of flights thereon.
They were more towards getting things into the air and about flying for a longer time.. The other things that were obviously worked on were Speed and arming it.. The early flights were armed with more engines to make them powerful and had more broader wing span to float. The engines were generic engines and not the Jet ones :) . The control of the wings were done through pulley mechanism.. A mechanical engineer would have better understood the working...
The second gallery is about the Cold war and WW collections.. It was a wonderful sight.. The Speed, the Arms and the Jet were the obvious things seen in these flights..
Coincidently on the day of my visit, the Museum was celebrating the Tokyo Raiders [Refer the Pearl Harbour Movie] The Brave Gentlemen who took part in the attack were in the museum were present and it was a honor to see them and get their autographs...
A Japanese Flight...
